Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Meraki Capital Limited ("we", "us", "our") operates merakicapital.co.uk (the "Site"). We are the controller of the personal data collected through the Site.

2. The data we collect

Data you give us. Your name, email address, telephone number, company and anything else you include when you complete a form on the Site, email us or speak to us.

Data about your business. If you contact us about selling, investment or a partnership, you may share information about your business. We treat it as confidential and use it only to assess and discuss that opportunity.

Data collected automatically. Your IP address and approximate location, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay and the site that referred you. Analytics data is collected only if you accept analytics cookies.

3. How and why we use it

We use personal data only where UK data protection law allows it:

  • To respond to your enquiry and hold the conversation you have asked for. Basis: our legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To assess a possible investment, acquisition or partnership you have raised with us. Basis: our legitimate interests.
  • To send you news and insight, where you have opted in. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To understand how the Site is used and improve it. Basis: your consent to analytics cookies.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Basis: legal obligation.

We will not use your data for a purpose that is incompatible with the reasons above.

4. Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies keep the Site working and do not need your consent. Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site and are set only if you accept them. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who host the Site, send email or provide analytics for us, under contracts that require them to protect it.
  • Companies in the Meraki Capital group, where your enquiry relates to one of them.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, who are bound by confidentiality.
  • Regulators, courts and law enforcement where the law requires it.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

7. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and contact form messages: two years from our last contact with you.
  • Information about a business you have discussed with us: as long as the conversation is active, then up to six years if a transaction proceeds, to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. We keep a minimal record of your opt-out so we can respect it.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months.

When we no longer need data, we delete it securely or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, email info@merakicapital.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of data you send us.

10. Other websites

The Site links to other websites, including those of our portfolio businesses. They have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

11. Children

The Site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
