After the deal

The first 90 days. What actually happens.

Every seller wants to know what happens the morning after. Here is how we approach it, and what our businesses have been through.

Before Day One

Decide whatmust not change.

The first conversation we have with a founder is not about what we are going to change. It is about what must not. The client relationships. The way decisions get made close to the work. The people the business could not run without.

We write it down and agree it. Then we protect it, even when it is inconvenient.

Day One

Clients noticenothing but more.

Your team hears it from you first, plainly, with a clear answer to the only question that matters to them: what does this mean for me? Clients and candidates keep the same people, the same numbers and the same relationships. Live roles and agreements carry straight on.

When six businesses joined us from Hays, they traded throughout, and clients and candidates saw no interruption.

The first 90 days

The back office changes. The front does not.

The front of the business should feel the benefit before it feels the change. Here is what a group can take on, and who leads it.

Money behind the business

A funding facility so workers are paid on time and growth does not eat your cash. Magnus Search’s facility grew from £4m to £9m as businesses joined.

Led byScott Coleman, Chief Financial Officer

Finance and payroll

Group accounting, controls and reporting, run once for every business.

Led byJade Devlin, Group Accountant

Legal and compliance

Contracts, employment law and regulatory compliance across every jurisdiction we work in.

Led byPippa Williamson, Head of Legal

Systems and data

Moving onto group platforms, consolidating data, and the CRM your consultants work in every day.

Led byRichard Harrison, Chief Technology Officer, and Rita Santos, Head of CRM and Data

IT and equipment

The practical work of connecting, separating and supporting systems and people.

Led byDaniel Booker, Project Manager

Delivery support

Resourcing from our team in Cape Town, so consultants spend more time with clients and candidates.

Led byTerri Brand, Cape Town Resourcing Centre

Brand and marketing

A brand that says what you do, a website built for your market, and content your leaders recognise as their own. Tessero went from name to six-country launch in ten weeks.

Led byAndy Agar, Chief Marketing Officer

Commercial performance

Sales discipline and go-to-market support, sharing what works across the group.

Led byPete Hart, Chief Revenue Officer

Integration and operations

One plan, one owner, and the day-to-day discipline that keeps it moving.

Led byJoanna Soltau, Head of Operations, and Steve Imber, Portfolio Director
How we measure it

Are the same peoplestill there?

Revenue in the first quarter tells you very little. The measure we hold ourselves to is whether the same consultants are still there, and still winning new work, a year on.

Every conversation starts with Nick Gordon, our founder. It is confidential, it commits you to nothing, and the best ones happen while the business is still performing.
